Upon request of the Chesapeake Bay Commission, the Chesapeake Bay Program’s Scientific and Technical Advisory Committee convened a diverse group of scientists from industry and academia to report on the issue of plastic microbeads in the Chesapeape Bay. In carrying out this task, we recognized that semantic and definitional issues were preventing efficient legislation and regulation, not just for plastic microbeads, but more broadly for other plastics. Our group submitted a paper to the journal Environmental Science & Technology, where it is currently under review.
We are forming a Technical Advisory Committee to review the Ecocyclable 1.0 standard, refine the standard, and determine the best approach for its implementation. Please contact email@example.com if you are interested in playing a role.
